I trust Agoda from Singapore, a highly reliable country, and occasionally use your service. For this round of trip, I used your service many times which were satisfactory. But this one in Hong Kong was a thug. You need to be careful not to lose your credibility. I had to go to the HK Police Station to report this guy. And I reported him to the HK complaint office. Please read the following report for the Agoda credibility.
Title: Submission of complaint on the cheating at the Chungking Mansions (Nathan Road)
Dear Sir/ Madam,
I am writing about the above case which happened on the night of January 25 (Sunday).
I booked through Agoda for the night of January 25 (Sunday) at "Hong Kong CoLiving Space" at Chungking Mansions (Nathan Road), on the 3rd Floor, Flat A2, Block A.
The fare was immediately deducted from my bank account in the amount of about 200 HK$ which included tax and service charge (see attached the confirmation paper issued by Agoda).
I suffered from three problems when I turned up at the "Hong Kong CoLiving Space" on the night of January 25 (Sunday).
After that, I went to the nearby police station (near the A21 bus station destined for the airport). The two police officers listened to me and registered my case on the computer. Officer Ossu said that there had been a lot of complaints by tourists about Chungking Mansions, particularly the ripping-off of overlapping tax and service charges.
I told the officers that the owner of "Hong Kong CoLiving Space" was a habitual cheater and he did severe damage to the image of Hong Kong to the foreigners. He should be punished and his guesthouse should be terminated so that this guy could not degrade Hong Kong any more.
The three problems are as follows:
(1) When I turned up at the "Hong Kong CoLiving Space," the owner made strong demands that I pay 37 HK$ as a tax, repeatedly and in shouting, despite my presentation and explanation of the Agoda confirmation paper showing that the tax and service charge were already paid. After shouting and shouting again, he closed the office door and left the office. So, I had to pay 37 HK$ to preserve the already paid fare for the night. This guy was very arrogant and a habitual liar; he appeared to be accustomed to this sort of ripping-off so many times.
(2) After paying the unnecessary tax, I was finally allowed to enter the room quarters, with a deposit of 100 yuan. This guy brought me to one 4-bed room where apparently three friends from South Asia were chatting in an environment like a small, garbage den. In addition to the smell and dirty conditions, I was afraid, what the three South Asian friends together would do to me and my wallet. I told the owner that the room conditions were 100% different from the photo on the Agoda advertisement, even if I accept some discount of the photo image. I said that I would not stay there and voluntarily discard the night's fare, and asked for the deposit and so-called tax of 37 HK$. Following shoutings, I got the deposit back, but still not 37HK$, and went to the police station. While writing this complaint now, I opened Agoda to see how falsely "Hong Kong CoLiving Space" sells. See the attached photo of their sales room. This is utterly lying - the real condition was like a small, garbage den. This liar should be punished. He is doing serious damage to the Agoda's credibility.
(3) From the first encounter of January 25 (Sunday) at his office, he behaved as a thug, shouting and threatening to the customer, which was not the normal way of doing business or dealing with the customer. I guess that this guy believed that threatening was an effective way to extract additional money from newcomers off the guard. The whole process of dealing with this guy that night alienated me from Hong Kong and Agoda.
Anyone who suffered from this guy would be determined not to go back to Hong Kong, and would never use Agoda to find accommodation, rather go to the alternative sources of T
